Welcome 'Cane Grads

Cane for Life cane fo rlife

The University of Miami will welcome more than 3,000 new graduating 'Canes to the UM Alumni Association through the spring 2018 Commencement Ceremonies to add to the more than 181,000 fellow alumni across the globe.

As lifetime members of the UM Alumni Association, we encourage all alumni to welcome the Class of 2018, who are about to embark on their new journeys. Alumni will be returning to campus to serve as commencement speakers and alumni marshals for ceremonies, watch their children walk across the stage and participate in the Legacy Reception and the Ring Ceremony.

In addition to visiting campus, there are many other ways to engage and stay involved with the U. Alumni mentoring opportunities, volunteer leadership positions, and the global ’Canes Communities offers both regional and campus based events.

Networking opportunities are now available both on campus and virtually. Connect with recent graduates and fellow alumni through Brazen, a newly implemented virtual networking tool. The platform allows you to instantly connect one-on-one with other University of Miami alumni for short, text-based (typed) chats. Alumni can discuss career paths, reminisce about campus, and share insights on their professional experiences.

Join the next monthly Virtual Networking Hour, taking place on April 25 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET. Click here to sign up. Join any of our upcoming virtual networking events held on the last Wednesday of every month.

Toppel Career Center offers a host of different opportunities for you to connect with students and young alumni. Check out the UShadow job shadowing program, help conduct mock interviews, get involved in career fairs, or stop by the Toppel Career Center and donate gently used suits, blouses, dress shirts and ties to Sebastian’s Closet.

With your support, new graduates will feel right at home in their local ’Canes Community. Volunteer to be a part of your local ’Canes Community leadership or attend an event like Global Networking Night in May and Welcome to the Neighborhood in September. Don’t miss out on Game Watch Parties; put on your turnover chain and head to the nearest game watch to gather with friends to cheer on the orange and green as we head into Storm 18!

The ’Cane Biz directory is another great way to support young graduates. Listing your alumni-owned business allows you to offer a discount to alumni and meet fellow graduates of the U.

If you are interested in making an impact on the next class of alumni, complete this form and let us know how you would like to support our newest lifetime members.

Hats off to the Class of 2018, and Go ’Canes!
