Who are the University of Miami Student Alumni Ambassadors?

The Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) are a prestigious and diverse group of dynamic and motivated volunteer student leaders, and the student face of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). Members serve as liaisons between students and alumni. They promote the tradition of annual giving and involvement amongst the student body by developing and executing an annual fundraising campaign and hosting various educational and philanthropic events that raise awareness about alumni benefits and services.

Members also have the opportunity to volunteer and network with alumni through various DAR programs and events.

What do the Student Alumni Ambassadors do?

Student Alumni Ambassadors meet biweekly during the academic year and participate in trainings on fundraising and communication techniques as well as planning discussions for programs and events.

SAA members host and participate in a variety of programs and networking events throughout the year to connect students with alumni around the country and educate them on the impact of student and alumni philanthropy. Events include Alumni Weekend and Homecoming, Philanthropy Awareness Day, Charter Day, ’Canes Creating Connections, the Official Ring Tradition, Class Gift program, and various alumni and/or donor events hosted by the University and DAR.

Members also plan and participate in a fundraising campaign that involves soliciting donations from current students to create scholarships for fellow ’Canes. This involves a number of educational and philanthropic programs, including on-campus tabling.

Mission and Purpose

The mission of the SAA is to support the University of Miami Division of Development and Alumni Relations in establishing and enhancing a mutually beneficial and enduring relationship between the University of Miami, its alumni, and current and future students.

The purpose of the SAA is to serve as an active liaison between the student body and alumni, sponsoring a wide variety of educational and philanthropic programs that foster a spirit of loyalty, involvement, annual giving, and a lifelong commitment to the University of Miami.
