I already paid for my plate. What do I need to do?
To complete the final step required by the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, paid applicants may simply download and fill out the updated MVR-27 application, and mail the original signed application to Monica Gutierrez, University of Miami Alumni Association, P.O. Box 248053, Coral Gables, FL 33124-9872.
I’m not sure if I already paid. How can I check?

Does filling out the application and submitting payment guarantee I will receive a plate?
No. However, once the UM Alumni Association receives the required 300 North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) updated MVR-27C applications, the production of NC collegiate specialty license plate is guaranteed.
How much is the plate?
The cost of the collegiate specialty plate application fee is $25, in addition to the NCDMV registration fee. For those who have not paid and would like to participate, please email alumni@miami.edu to start the process.
Can I fill out an application but pay later?
No. The University of Miami must include a check to cover all the applications costs, when submitting the 300 updated applications to the North Carolina DVM, for production of the plate to ensue.
How will I be notified when the goal is reached?
Once the goal is met, applicants will be notified via email and provided with instructions on how, when and where to obtain the plate.
May I purchase more than one specialty plate?
Yes. You are encouraged show your ’CANE PRIDE, wherever your RIDE takes you.
